What is Go Jane Give?

Go Jane Give is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a global community of women. We focus on Lifestyle Giving: helping women turn their talents and interests into simple fundraisers for great causes. We provide a beautiful, easy-to-use platform where you can create and share a fundraiser that matches your lifestyle: host a yoga class to build a school in Nepal; bake brownies to help stop the trafficking of girls in India; offer your artwork to support maternal health in Mali; swim 50 laps to fund women’s small businesses in Morocco. The possibilities are endless.

How does the platform work?

Our platform allows you to turn your talents and interests into a fundraiser for a cause of your choice in three easy steps. (1) Choose a cause to support. We have a curated list of highly-effective nonprofits doing amazing work or you can search for charities by name or keyword. (2) Use our simple tool to find a way to fundraise for your chosen charity that matches your talents and interests. (3) Create and share your personalized fundraising page. When you collect donations using your fundraising page, the money is sent securely to the charity of your choice. Click, click, done.

What causes can I fundraise for?

We have a curated list of highly-effective nonprofits that have proven solutions to some of the world’s most urgent problems. Your fundraising efforts will have a significant impact if you choose to fundraise for one of these organizations. However, you can choose any charity registered in the U.S. to receive your fundraising proceeds. The funds you raise will be sent to the charity of your choice. You can search for charities by name or keyword. So go ahead! Find your cause!

What types of things can I do to fundraise?

Be yourself! You can turn any talent, interest or activity into a fundraiser. Check out our Inspiration page to see what other people are doing. We have a simple tool that will help you find ways to fundraise that match your personality and lifestyle. Here are some popular ways to fundraise on Go Jane Give:

Offer an item or service to donors. How about your famous carrot cake to 3 lucky donors? Or a weekend at your cabin to the highest donor? Offer 20 hours of babysitting to a random donor. Or 3 free dental consultations. Give away your vintage clock as a prize. Offer free piano lessons or a handmade quilt.  

Take on a personal challenge. Walk 15 miles. Swim 50 laps. Give up sugar for 60 days. Do 30 pushups a day for 6 months. Your friends and family can show support by donating to your cause.

Celebrate a milestone. For your next birthday, anniversary, graduation or baby/wedding shower, ask friends and family to donate to your cause in lieu of gifts.

Host a gathering. A bake sale, a barbecue, a fitness class, a campout, a book club, a girls’ night in, a sleepover, a “Taco Tuesday” party. Ask your guests (and others who can’t make it) to donate to your cause.

Give up something you normally buy and donate what you save. Spend a few Saturday nights watching a movie on the sofa instead of going out. Drink home-brewed coffee for a month instead of lattes from the barista. Hang out your clothes in the sun instead of using your dryer. Get your friends to join you and donate to your cause on your fundraising page. 

How do you choose the nonprofits you feature?

We feature nonprofits that provide proven and promising, women-focused solutions to the problems facing the world’s most economically vulnerable populations. This article explains our criteria for selection.

Is my personal information kept private and secure?

We respect your privacy at Go Jane Give. We never sell or share it with third parties. For more information, see our our Terms of Use. All credit card information is handled by our API partner, FirstGiving. They provide a PCI Level 1 secure payment gateway, which is the highest industry standard.

I’m having technical trouble. How can I get help?

Please email us at support@gojanegive.org. We aim to respond to all requests for technical support within 24 hours.

Do you work with businesses and brands?

Yes! There are many ways we work with businesses and brands. We are a registered nonprofit, so donations to our organization are tax-deductible. We’d love to discuss how our platform can support your business and help you reach your social responsibility goals. Please get in touch at hello@gojanegive.org.

Can I do a team fundraiser ?

Yes! Team fundraisers are really fun and a great way to raise more money for your cause. Choose a charity for your team, create your fundraising page and have your team share it with their friends and family. One person can manage your team’s fundraising page. Alternatively, you can have each team member create her own page for the same cause.

What happens to the money I raise on my fundraising page?

All donations that you collect on your fundraising page are sent to your charity of choice by FirstGiving, our API partner. FirstGiving deducts a 4.25% fee from each donation to cover credit card payment processing and donation disbursement. Go Jane Give does not determine this fee, and we do not receive any of this deduction. When someone makes a donation on your page, a voluntary platform fee is added to the amount of the donation. This fee helps cover the costs of the Go Jane Give platform and the services we provide to charities and users. This fee is optional, and donors can remove it if they wish before they make their donation. Go Jane Give is a registered nonprofit, and we are very grateful for donors who support our mission. 

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Most contributions to U.S.-registered charities are tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers. All charities on our platform are registered with the IRS. All donors receive an email receipt when they make a donation on our platform. This receipt can be used for tax purposes. 

Does Go Jane Give charge fees?

Go Jane Give does not charge platform fees. To fulfill our mission, we rely on voluntary donations from our users. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Each time a donor makes a donation to a fundraising campaign, s/he has the opportunity to add a voluntary platform fee to the donation to help cover our costs at Go Jane Give. This is not a required fee, and it can be removed using the “Change” button next to the donation on the donor checkout page. We deeply appreciate the generosity of donors who make this platform possible. 

What is a reasonable fundraising goal?

You’ll be surprised at how many of your friends, family members and colleagues will want to support your cause. People are looking for opportunities to give—it makes them feel great. When there is a specific goal amount, people get more excited to pitch in. Believe in yourself and your cause. Go for it! You’re changing the world! You can change your fundraising goal from your dashboard at any time.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising goal?

There are no penalties for not reaching your fundraising goal. Feel free to continue your fundraiser for as long as you like. Whatever money you raise will be directed to your charity of choice.

Do you have any tips for successful fundraisers?

Yes! There are lots of things you can do to make your fundraiser more successful. The most important thing to do is to tell your story on your fundraising page, and share, share, share! Update your fundraising page often, and post the updates to your social media accounts frequently. This helps build momentum, and people will get more excited to be a part of what you’re doing.
